Where better to commence? The Ancient and beautiful Rome in a district called Monti.

Yesterday was the very beginning of a journey which will inspire to food and travel writings this Summer in Italy.

I will keep you informed as I become inspired with locations, food and information where to eat well!

Monti is the name of one of the twelve Rioni of Rome, rione I. The name literally means mountains in Italian and comes from the fact that the Esquiline and the Viminal Hills, and parts of the Quirinal and the Caelian Hills belonged to this Rione.

It is near the Colosseum and is developing as an area for alternative, boho, artistic, places to eat and just hang out ........

I discovered a great lunch stop at AROMATICUS in via Urbana 134.

I had the Panzanella which is a bread salad like nothing you have ever tasted - light, tasty, with slithers of mozarella on top and a delicate pouring of organic olive oil.

AND I had a peach juice which was like drinking a ripe peach with a touch of fresh basil- imagine?

Perfectly harmonious flavours.

You must check it out when you are in Rome- those of you who yearn for something not "mainstream" - will be delighted

Don't worry it is inspired by very traditional recipes and ingredients........
